Did you hear today’s juicy news?? The NY Times reported that Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew just announced “the most sweeping and historically symbolic makeover of American currency in a century by proposing to replace the slaveholding Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with Harriet Tubman, the former slave and abolitionist.” Word on the street is that he has a plan to add women and civil rights leaders to the $5 and $10 bills soon as well.
But the juicy doesn’t stop there because I’m also sharing the latest addition to my food-inspired collection of pool toys (come on, a watermelon raft?!?!), as well as a sweet look from one of my favorite online budget-friendly boutiques: Shabby Apple!
I love the stretchy (and therefore very forgiving) taffeta material of this little dress. The strategic pleats give it a flattering amount of volume and a retro fit-and-flare shape.
Shabby Apple has more recently launched an updated version which includes both a nautical stripe and even a ¾ length sleeve with little accent bows. At just over $100, the price tag is a little steeper than I might typically consider but the classic design has a stylish staying power that makes up for it.
IMO, this could provide a playful and economical option for budget brides on the search for their bridesmaid dresses.
